Seedance 2.5 or MiniMax H3 on Rented GPUs for Short Dramas?

·3 min read

Generate 100 five-second shots with Seedance 2.5 and the official 720p example puts the bill at roughly CNY 756. Running the same number of clips with H3 Turbo on a rented 5090 comes to about CNY 8 in active rental time, using a published speed benchmark.

The difference starts with what you buy: Seedance sells a generation service; with H3, you pay for machine time. Here are the numbers.

What does a five-second clip cost?

720p, five-second clips, CNY. Seedance uses official regular-price examples; H3 is a rental calculation.
Option1 clip100 clips
Seedance 2.5~¥7.56~¥756
Seedance 2.0 standard~¥4.97~¥497
Seedance 2.0 fast~¥4.00~¥400
Seedance 2.0 mini~¥2.48~¥248
H3 Turbo · one 5090~¥0.079~¥7.92

Checked October 2, 2026. Seedance examples use 16:9 output without video input. H3 assumes 75 seconds per clip and continuous execution at CNY 3.80/hour, excluding idle time, retries, storage and labor. This is not an equal-quality benchmark. Check current billing terms. Official pricing source.

For the Seedance 2.0 series, eligible enterprise users currently pay approximately CNY 0.99 for mini or CNY 3 for fast at the above specification. The promotion ends October 7, 2026 at 14:00 China time, has usage caps and excludes personal accounts. Promotion terms.

Where does H3's CNY 0.079 come from?

A community author's four-step H3 Turbo workflow reports about 75 seconds for a five-second 720p clip on one warmed 5090. The inspected Compshare H3 image configuration costs CNY 3.80/hour in total.

75 ÷ 3600 × 3.80 ≈ CNY 0.079.

At that pace, 100 consecutive jobs take about two hours and five minutes, costing CNY 7.92. Keep the machine running for four hours to finish those jobs and the bill becomes CNY 15.20. You pay for the time rented, not a fixed price for each clip.

The deployment page also offers four 5090s with 256GB host RAM, quoted at CNY 13.42/hour in the supplied screenshot. With one independent worker per GPU, each maintaining 75 seconds per job, theoretical output would be four clips every 75 seconds. That is concurrent throughput, not a fourfold reduction in one clip's latency.

Which would I choose for a short-drama team?

For a team producing daily batches, with a canvas and technical staff, I would consider rented GPUs running H3. Under the assumptions above, leaving the machine on for four hours to generate 100 clips still costs CNY 15.20 in rental. That cost structure is attractive for repeated storyboard and shot attempts.

For occasional clips, or a production already committed to Seedance, buy the generation service. The 2.5 and 2.0-series examples above give a direct basis for a volume budget.

A company building both a canvas and its own dramas could also offer external generation jobs during spare capacity. The deployment would serve internal production and potentially paying customers. Channel charges and the model and image licenses must be accounted for separately.

This comparison addresses generation spending. H3 has an attractive compute-cost case for batches; Seedance provides a direct per-job purchasing route. We have not run a matched visual-quality test and do not rank which model produces better footage for your story.

No paid instance or matched quality test was run. Turbo timings use a warmed four-step workflow, INT8 diffusion weights and an NVFP4 encoder. Cold loading takes additional time.
